The ever growing popularity of highly polished concrete floors has brought with it an increased rate of slips and falls, particularly when wet. Why? Because as you can see in the video the floor appears to be wet everywhere. In fact, commercial floor polish manufactures create products which they claim will deliver a “wet look”. Although shiny floors may be appealing to the eye they can be very painful to the hips, arms, and heads as unsuspecting shoppers encounter a wet floor hazard.
The tradeoff is clear: Gain in appearance = increased rate of slips and falls. Which is more important?
