Here’s an example of a potentially dangerous pathway at the COSTCO store in Southlake, TX. Although being attractive, the retailer increased the risk of a pedestrian slip and fall by constructing the stone and gravel pathway. When this store was build the pathway did not exist but due to customers walking through the then grassed island the store decided to construct the gravel pathway. When wet from rain, ice , or snow, the stones become slippery and will move given they are loosely installed on unstable soil/crushed granite. The better choice would to have been to install a concrete walkway through the island.
